What is the Oral Competition & Prizes
An engineer, like all professionals, must possess a well-developed ability to communicate, both orally and in writing. The Oral Competition is designed to emphasize the value of an ability to deliver oral presentations.
The Oral Competition is sponsored by the ASME Old Guard Committee. Through annual financial contributions and volunteer time and efforts, the Old Guard conducts this program for the benefit of engineering students and early career engineers, and ultimately for the good of the engineering profession.

The Oral Competition will be held at in-person EFx events. Not all EFx events will have every competition available. Check that the Oral Competition is available at that event before registering. EFx events will be posted as they are confirmed.
We are pleased to announce that Oral Competition FINALS for all First Place Oral Competition winners will be held in October or November 2024 (exact date to be announced) VIA ZOOM. Oral Competition First Place winners from ASME EFx events held during the period July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024 will be contacted about the Finals. Download the Oral Competition rules for information about finals prizes and presentations. Finals will be in English.
